A Dog’s Way Home trailer released
The trailer for “A Dog’s Way Home” has now been released.
Based on the novel from author W. Bruce Cameron’s dog trilogy, it is a sequel to the 2017 film A Dog’s Purpose, which starred Josh Gad (Frozen, 2017 Beauty and the Beast,, 2017 Murder on the Orient Express) as the voice of the titular dog and Dennis Quaid (1998 The Parent Trap, The Rookie, Soul Surfer) played the dog’s human Ethan.
Quaid and Gad will reprise the roles of Ethan and the dog in A Dog’s Journey, which is set for release May 17, 2019.
In A Dog’s Way Home, according to the trailer, a fun-loving cheese-obsessed brown dog named Bella (voice of Bryce Dallas Howard) gets lost and must travel back home to her human Lucas. It looks similar to the classic Homeward Bound as far as plot goes.
Bella must travel across a mountainous region and befriend a mountain lion before she compeltes her quest.
Howard is the daughter of actor/director Ron Howard, and has appeared in movies like 2004 thriller The Village, 2007’s Spider-Man 3 and 2011’s The Help, in addition to the Jurassic Park franchise’s Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
The cast of A Dog’s Way Home also includes Edward James Olmos (Blade Runner, Miami Vice, 2003 Battlestar Galactica), Ashley Judd (Double Jeopardy, Where the Heart Is), Wes Studi (Dances with Wolves, Avatar, Hostiles) and Barry Watson (7th Heaven, Samantha Who?, Gossip Girl) in currently-unknown roles.
The film will be produced by Columbia Pictures and and Bona Film Group, and distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
A Dog’s Way Home will be released in theaters on January 11, 2019.
