Pitbulls, stigmatized in the media and assumed the most dangerous breed. Well forget what you heard, because the stats and communities say something different.

Reports claim 40% of dog related injuries per year are due to Pitbulls. While a recent 2015 peer-reviewed study shows that 60% of these claims misrepresent Pitbulls. When rated against other breeds, measuring risk of fatalities, the Pitbull came in ninth place.

So why have Pitbulls been stereotyped for years? Many Pitbull owners suffer harsh judgment for having the breed. To change the conversation, here is info on the true temperament of Pitbulls.

Great Family Dogs

These dogs, characterized as friendly and energetic, do well with a lot of people. Families with Pitbulls will rave about how gentle these dogs are with children and babies. They love to play tug of war, eat everything in sight and lay around watching Netflix like the rest of us. The perfect household pet.

Gets Along Well With Others

The Pitbull, like all other breeds, needs supervision when being introduced to other animals. However, this dog is really the social butterfly. Curious and playful, they are a great breed for people seeking a second pet. They do not suffer from lock-jaw, this is another false myth. Again, they are gentle, especially when dealing with smaller animals than themselves.
