This amazing dog just celebrated his 16th birthday (Photo)

Throwback Thursday is extra special this week, as we feature a dog old enough to be our grandparents — in dog years.

As time goes by, we all age. That’s a simple statement that is so obvious because it’s painfully true. Getting old or watching our loved ones grow older with time is a hard reality we all face, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a sappy or sad ride.

Life is what you make it, and some know how to make the best of it better than others. Look no further than Fernando, who just turned 16-years old this week and looks like he has a handful of years left ahead.

If you don’t feel like doing the math, that’s 112 in people years. In short, it’s old. 

But don’t think that holds him back. He’s proving that 16 is the new six.

From what his owner says, it sounds like he had a pretty awesome birthday.

“I did take him down to the bar for his birthday,” Fernando’s owner said. “He had Cheetos at the bar and steak and potatoes for dinner.”

Cheers to Fernando on 16 beautiful years of life and here’s to plenty of more ahead.
